What the houses are like
Long driveways, wide eaves and a lot of wood: pergolas, docks, fences, garden structures that nobody inspects because they are not part of the house. Drywood termites find those first and move inward later. The houses themselves are generally sound and generally sealed, so when something is inside it came in through a garage door left up in the afternoon or a screen the tree took out in the last storm.
How the year runs here
Mosquitoes are the year-round conversation here, and they do not need the canal to breed, they need the eight inches of water sitting in a tarp fold. From June to October we are mostly doing barrier treatments and walking yards looking for containers. Ghost ants take over the kitchen conversation in the dry months, when they follow irrigation lines toward the only reliable water left, which is your sink.
