What the houses are like
Two housing stocks, and they call about different things. The older homes near the centre of town, many of them rebuilt after 1992, have the wood trim and low roof lines that go with drywood termites and roof rats. The newer subdivisions on the edges are tight and modern, and their problem is whatever walks in from the field behind the fence, which is fire ants in the lawn and mice in the garage.
How the year runs here
Harvest and field turning move rodents in waves rather than seasons, so the busy week here is set by what the growers are doing, not by the calendar. On top of that, irrigation keeps mosquito pressure high well past when it drops elsewhere in the county, and fire ants build after every heavy rain from May onward.
